Malabar Recording Studio is located in the heart of Grünerløkka, 
the most vibrant area in Oslo, full of life both at day and
night. The studio is over 240 square meters and has a great collection
of vintage equipment and instruments.
 
From 2008 -2011 we have worked with bands/artists like Dum Dum Boys, Kitchie Kitchie Ki Me O, 
Ingrid Olava, A-Ha, Phaedra, Madrugada, Bjørn Eidsvaag to name a few. 
We have also written music for most of the national theatre stages in Norway, and
delivered music to various film and art projects.
 
Our primary goal is to capture the energy and the magic of the liveperformance and to 
transfer this to tape or to state-of-the-artdigital recording platforms. 
We have worked hard to create a good atmosphere in
the studio to help the artist to get the right feel.
 
In our racks, you may find modern gear next to vintage gear from the 60´s. 
For us it is important that the gear we use have a certain fidelity and musicality.
Our experience is that microphones are the most important element of
the recording chain and we can offer a good selection of vintage
microphones in mint condition. You can record your music to tape,
or on to the newest recording platforms, such as Pro-Tools on Apple G5s.
Nick Terry has now joined Malabar.  Nick has enjoyed working alongside 

producer/artists such as Bernard Butler, Mick Jones, James Ford and worked
with bands like the Libertines, Primal Scream, The Manic Street Preachers, Klaxons, 
Serena Maneesh and electronic acts like Simian Mobile Disco. Besides working as a 
engineer and producer, Nick has also a passion for designing his own valve equipment 
which have led to a partnership in valve design company Thermionic Culture. 

Malabar have finishing their second control room, so now possible to work around the
clock with tracking and overdubs happening in one area, while mixing is
occurring in another. We also have mobile recording equipment if you
want to record outside the studio.

Our approach is that each musician has his own individual
needs, and our priority is to meet this needs. We stribe to blend the
musicality of our staff with the best of old and new technology.
